moving on

i have a job interview this afternoon. cross your fingers, okay? i could use some good mojo.

i've been listening to nothing but the life aquatic soundtrack, thinking about how i really should have learned portuguese as a kid because then mom and i could talk to each other without anyone else knowing what we're saying. brazilian portuguese is different from mainland portuguese, but they're close enough. it also makes me think a lot about david bowie and how he was the first real crush i had on a man. as a teenager i was madly in love with a slew of thin boys with pretty faces. while i still like the look of a slender, lovely man, experience has taught me that i prefer to get my hands on a man with a bit more meat on his bones. but really, you can't ever shake those first crushes. if i were to get to meet david bowie ever, rest assured i'd burst into tears like a crazy fan-girl. how could i not?

Oh how funny! Last summer, a few friends and I were asking the males in the group who, if anyone, their "man-crush" was. Would you believe my boyfriend popped off with, "David Bowie", witout a moments hesitation? I sat there with my mouth open for a second, broke into a grin and said, "No *wonder* I love you!!!" By which I mean to say, My guy and I would be weeping like fan-girls right there with you!!!

I listen to that soundtrack all the time and I, too, had a David Bowie crush back in the day (right before the John Taylor of Duran Duran crush. Ouch.) But these days I prefer Seu Jorge, who does a number of David Bowie covers on the aforementioned soundtrack. He's dreamy. Sigh.

We saw David Bowie in concert in Austin a year or two ago and he almost set me on fire with his hotness. Also he is extremely goofy in his stage banter, and actually kind of dorky in a really cute way. Not what you'd expect...
